Earlier, Ford has said that it will stop the sales of all passenger cars in North America except the Mustang and Focus Active. In a recent statement, Ford has said that it is going to provide assistance to the cars which are already on the street.
This statement comes after all the models of Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ from the year 2015 are recalled to fix an issue related to the seatbelt anchor pretensioners. The affected vehicles are from North America region only.
As per Ford, the deployment of the driver or front-passenger seat belt anchor pretensioner increases the temperature which can reduce the tensile strength of the cable below the level needed to save the driver. This is a serious issue as it increases the risk of injury if the car meets with an accident.
In U.S. Ford has recalled approximately 100,000 vehicles. Affected models are the 2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ only. Because of the defect, one person has already been injured. Hence, Ford decided to fix this issue in all the affected vehicles.
