This addition of more products & components make a Diesel Car a bit costlier.

Servicing the Diesel powertrain is costlier as it has to take care not only the engine but also the emission controlling stuff.

Now coming to your actual question, if you should prefer a Diesel Car over Petrol Car.

As per the data, 80% of the private cars are driven in traffic areas where the Car performance is not actually available. So, whether you Drive a 1000 CC Car or a 2500 CC SUV, you will actually be driving on the same pace. So if you are going to opt Diesel for power, i do not find it sensible for city traffic.

The recommendation to buy Diesel Car is entirely based on the daily running of your vehicle. If your Daily Car running is lesser than a specific value then, probably petrol car will be more cost effective for you.
